Picture Dictionary 01 use both pictures and words (as the name suggests) to describe another word, expression, or phrase in common usage. They are a mix of Pictograms and Wordies, in essence Picture Dictionary 02 are many rebuses. According to OED, a Rebus is a puzzle in which words are shown by using combinations of pictures and letters; for instance, apex might be represented by a picture of an ape followed by a letter X. The earliest known use of the noun rebus is in the early 1600s.
Rebus is also a Scottish crime drama television series based on the Inspector Rebus novels by Sir Ian Rankin.
